Long time friend Philippine Demeestere independant make up professional has decided to contact Dreamsnfx to design and develop her website Third Eye Make up.

A long time friend, Philippine Demeestere, a Los Angeles-based freelance makeup artist recently contracted Dreamsnfx to design and develop her website, aptly named “Third Eye Makeup”. The result? A sleek, professional website which incorporates a touch of color and design with a functional portfolio section.

Working with Philippine was a great experience. She is a web designer’s dream client, as she knew exactly what she wanted and which direction she wanted to go as far as design, color style and functionality.

Very talented and passionate, Philippine is in the building stages of her business and career in cosmetics. She has already done amazing make up on two short films, and has already been booked for a full-length feature. Philippine has also worked alongside a few professional photographers. Check out the gallery of her makeup portfolio.

But our work with Philippine is not over. Future projects include a blog and possibly an online makeup store. Next on her plate? A section dedicated to Philippine’s second passion, fine art, where she will be featuring drawings of her favorite makeup looks. Stay tuned!

To book Philippine for films, photoshoots, bridal makeup, or events, contact her on thirdeyemakeup.com

Does your blog need improvement? You will find in this post 5 basic important wordpress tips to help you improve your blog pages and better compete with other on the web.

1. Content

It goes without saying that the most important thing in a blog is to write a unique content base on your own knowledge and experience in your field. While you’re writing content, try to think about how you can involve the reader to respond to your own thoughts. Comments are key to writing a successful blog. All publicity is good: whether they be positive or negative comments, it doesn’t matter it. What matters is that it keeps your blog in good health.

2. Plug ins

WordPress has thousands of plug-ins. Not all of them are great, but many of us end up keeping both active and inactive plug-ins on our blogs. Try to keep the ones you use and remove all the un-necessary plug-ins you’re not using. Having too many plug-ins installed can really affect the loading time of your pages and your overall blog’s performance. Keep in mind that most of these plug-ins need extra space for its code on your page.

When you have all your plug-ins organized, ask your webmaster to check and see if they are correctly optimized and thus not interfering with other plug-ins. Most of the time you dont see it on your page, but its can mess with the other codes on the source page.

3. Images

Use images to give some life to your content. ‘Break’ your text with an image and don’t forget the image’s alt tag description.

However beautiful and unique your image are, they need to be optimized and compressed correctly. We often see blogs with huge images that take forever to load and suck the bandwidth of the page.

One of the of criteria for google to rank your page well is for your content to load quickly.

4. SEO

Clean URL: Check your blog’s article url/path and make sure the url is ‘clean’ and easy to remember.
Ex: http://www.websitename.com/blog-article-name

If you do not have a clear url, in WordPress ‘Settings’, click on ‘Permalinks’ and add /%postname%/

Blog Title: Make sure your blog article’s title is showing correctly

Blog Description: Write a compelling meta description (around 155 Characters should suffice)

5. Sitemap

Make sure you have a sitemap that isd constantly updated, that way search engines know that there is new content added to your site.

Check with your webmaster to make sure your sitemap is ready and included in:

- Google Webmaster Tools
- Yahoo Site explorer
- Bing Webmaster Tools

That being said, if you need help to improve your blog you
can always contact us or if you have other helpful tips to share or questions, feel free to post them in the comment area.

From the beginning, we have been working and partnering with several French businesses in the United States.

We are currently working on different Franco-American Perfume companies, Restaurants, Health care companies, Hair Salons, Travel tour agencies, and we are always open to provide our services to other types of businesses.

Why we can fit your needs

At Dreamsnfx, French culture is a part of our success. We understand French culture and we can adapt your business style to fit with American culture. We speak french, so the transaction can be a smooth one.

What we offer to your business:

Business Consulting
In our team, we have a French business consultant that can help you open and legalize your business in the United States.

Hosting
Trust us- French internet servers or providers are not a solution when you want to do business in America. Server location is very important. Google search algorithms first look for local businesses and only secondly do they rank international websites. This is also why we offer an affordable hosting solution for local firms or French firms.

Web site design and development
Our design style feature a synergy between French and American style, we make sure both cultures are comfortable while browsing on your website with ease.

For website development, correction and adjustments we work with you on Skype no hassle with English language and no big telephone bill at the end of the month.

Networking
For the past years we’ve built strong network of French companies that allow us to thrive in website design developments.

If you have any question feel free to call us

So you are in the process of getting a new website, or maybe you would like to move from your old, dated html to a new platform/technology in which you can finally edit the content yourself without having to bother your web designer ever 5 minutes.

Here are a few things we recommend to make a smooth transition from your old html website to a new content management system (cms):

One of the common questions we get from our clients is: Am I going to lose my search ranking with the new website?

Here are a few steps that will help you keep your website steady, will not affect the search ranking as much, and will ensure a smooth transition.

Keep the same structure
The architecture of your website, most commonly called the navigation, should stay the same at launch and progressively change as your familiarizing yourself with the new system.

Layout
If possible, keep a similar layout, meaning your copy should be organized the same way. The reason is that some search engine robots have an organized way of reading the page.

Keep the web page name
Name your pages exactly the same as your old website, so you don’t lose the inbound links that you’ve acquired over the years.

Create a 404 page redirect
If you’re getting rid of old pages that have inbound links, make sure your new website has a designed 404 page that is redirected towards your homepage.

Don’t launch everything at the same time
If you have a lot of news pages, don’t launch everything at once. We recommend you spread it overtime so that search engine keep coming back to your page and archive it little by little.

Keep your old H1 header
Keep your new headers consistent with your old website You can always change them later to increase your rank, when search engines have already archived the rest of your site.

Keep Same Meta Description
Make sure all the pages have the same Meta descriptions and keywords.

Use the right technology
Finally, double-check with your webmaster or design company that you are able to do all of the things above. Base on our experience, a lot of cms platforms are limited and need module enhancements or hard coding customization.

Remember: If the task seems too complicated and you don’t know where to start, let us know and we will be glad to help your business stay up-to-date with the latest technology.

It’s not enough to simply have a website adapted to mobile phones: You must make sure it will target your audiance correctly. Future and current mobile website owners should consider these tips when dealing with their mobile sites:

Simple Mobile Navigation
Navigation on a mobile website should be straightforward and concise. The website should not overload the subnavigation and should remain as simple as possible so the users dont get confused on their relatively small cellphone screens. To see an example of a simple mobile website, check out this link at www.dreamsnfx.mobi.

Mobile Functionality
As much as possible, try to avoid using programs such as flash, Javscript, ajax, or other advanced technologies. The reason is that mobiles and smartphones are not currently technologically advanced enough to do so.Your best bet is to use xhtml tagsand css. Always make sure that the most important content is a the top of your cellphone screen.

Images
If you use images, make sure they are the right size (dimension and file size). Since cellphones allow for less have data transfers, your image should emphasize your content and not just merely decorate it.

Test your Mobile site
Make sure your mobile website works correctly on the most used phones such as the iphone and the blackberry. http://ready.mobi is website that enables you to test your mobile website.
Also, make sure that when you type your regular website URL on a phone, its automatically redirects it to the mobile website version.

Beware of freebies
Last but not least, be weary of websites that proclaim they will create a free mobile website for you. Oftentimes, they add extra codes on your mobile page and add their footer for advertising. If you want more information or would like to inquire about getting your website ready for smartphones, feel free to contact us.

As the number of websites on the internet seems to grow exponentially, it can be difficult to distinguish what is a good, professional looking website versus what is just trash advertising or a sloppy site. This is especially true with blogs, as well as shopping carts.
Who can you trust for content? Who can you trust with your credit card information? Which sites can you be sure will not send you spam?

Today, everyone seems to be getting a little bit tech savvy. And who can blame them? It only takes a few minutes to create an account, get a free url and template and take your place among the ranks. The downside is that people who surf the internet are also getting savoir-faire about website building. People can easily spot an overused template, a confusing navigation, under-pixilated banners and pictures, or even that oh-so-classy touch of google ads plastered all over the place. These examples make me reminisce about a pre-internet era, the television age, when you could catch a few really shoddy commercials here and there. You know the ones…you couldn’t really put your finger on what was wrong, but it was almost cringe-worthy. Was it the quality of the camera? The substandard editing? Or those little cartoons added for emphasis? Used car dealerships and restaurants were always the culprits. Even mattress store commercials surpassed them in that department! At one point, you have to ask yourself: “How does my website reflect upon my business? What kind of image am I projecting to my future customers?

There are 3 key ingredients to any good website: A good design, smooth functionality and last but certainly not least, content of substance.

#3: Design
Website appearance and looks really plays in your favor for creditability. Think about when
you meet someone for the first time. The first step to getting to know someone is through physical appearance. Some people will even go as far as determining if they are interested in someone or not based on appearance alone. The same applies for a website. Whether you are a professional service, if you invest a lot of resources in the appearance of your website, etc, will be the first thing that people see when they click on your url. It’s important, because people will very easily navigate away from your website if they don’t like what they see. The design of your site needs to be attractive in a way that people can get information without being too distracted by colors or graphic elements.
Moreover, your website needs to appeal to your target audience. If you’re in the restaurant industry, chances are almost anyone can be your target audience. In building your website, you must keep in mind that your website needs to be appealing and understandable for people of all ages (font size neither too big nor too small), all professions (keep it business-like, but not boring), all tastes (too much of anything is a bad thing). As much as possible, you want your website to be unique so that it will have what writer Malcolm Gladwell calls “stickiness factor”. Stickiness factor is what information will stick to a person and will make them remember your restaurant more than others. Stickiness factor works for the general appearance of your website, as well as the content.

#2: Navigation and Functionality
Always keep the KISS principle in mind (Keep It Simple, Stupid). A lot of people make excessive use of flash animation or ultra-fancy navigations to stand out of the crowd. But the crowd is just clicking that little X on the top right hand corner of the browser. Indeed, people like simplicity. There are websites that are so confusing, you don’t know where to click to get past the animations. Other websites are easy to access, but once you’re there, you don’t really know where to go. Since no one in their right mind would waste extra time trying to understand a website, it’s important that you stay clear and organized. Your website should effortlessly guide your visitors. For example, a navigation bar under the main logo or banner with smaller links to content pages such “about us”, “products” or “contact us” (company information builds credibility!) will direct the user to important information about who you are and what your website does. Bigger icons or images in the center of the page would be the content area. Something like this would be a traditional organization that everyone can easily recognize. If your visitors are confused, they are more likely to abandon the page. If your website contains a lot of subsections, it is also recommended to create a site map. This will often be used by visitors and search engines will definitely take note.

#1: Content
Content is key. A professional website should have a well organized content which reads easily and with a good flow, without being too repetitive. To keep the reader’s interest, content should be relevant, interesting and should add some value to the reader. Do research about your subject matter, explain how you like to do things, write about your own experience, etc. Basically, make what you have to say important by bringing something to the table.
